My name is Dianne Hill. I have a son, now 35 years old, who is autistic and severely intellectually disabled. He is non-verbal and needs someone around at all times. He can not live on his own and cannot participate fully in the community, including the workforce, without help.
I am writing a book which I plan to call “The Accidental Advocate” or “The Autism Advocate” as part of a Professional Writing course at Adelaide TAFE. In this book there will be a story of my advocacy journey, along with the stories from others who are advocating for someone on the autism spectrum.
